Sports Elective
Sport is a universal language, a universal love, and a way to open up doors. God has blessed many people with talents and abilities to be used to glorify Him. The Sports Elective enables just that. It’s a combination of getting to know the heart of God and taking His heart to reach those who don’t know Him through the avenue of sports. Sports Elective uses sports as a platform to disciple the nations. The elective encourages students to allow God to grow them in all areas of their lives: Body, Soul, and Spirit. We also encourage our students to develop a daily discipline of time alone with God, exercise, and a healthy diet. During Lecture Phase, students will spend time physically training their bodies and focusing on being healthy. Although we’d love to cater to everyone’s individual sport, we cannot necessarily guarantee that. However, we do our best to incorporate a variety of sports and activities. Students are also challenged during the Lecture Phase to create games and prepare activities for outreach. They should also be open to learning dance and skits that they will use on outreach.
The outreach Phase is a time to really use sport as a door opener! No matter where in the world you go, there is a sport that people love. Students can easily play sports and games in the neighborhood with local people to build relationships. During ministry times, those games and activities that students prepared during the Lecture Phase will definitely come in handy. Students should be ready to serve in a variety of ways, even if it’s not necessarily sports related. For example, they may have the opportunity to teach English, participate in slum ministries, or minister to people from broken homes.
Sports Elective is a challenging time of growth for students where they will learn more about God, themselves, and how they can use sports as a way to give glory to God.
